League Management
Off Season
Drafting and the KeeperSystem play major roles in the off-season. More information is available on those pages.
During The Season
The fantasy baseball game provided by CBS Sportsline is used to manage our league during the season. Each league owner is responsible for the cost to register a team on this site. The approximate cost per league is $150, or $15 per team. The league password needed to register a team to the “Fans of the ACC” league is distributed each year well in advance of Opening Day.
In Season
The rules provided by CBS Sportsline are used to score our league during the season. Notes will be distributed regarding the details of CBS Sportsline's rules before the season begins.
The basics are as follows:
Active Roster: 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, C, 1B/3B, 2B/SS, 5 OF, UTIL, 9 P
Additional Roster: 4 bench players and 1 IR slot
Scoring Categories: W, S, ERA, WHIP, K, R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG
Rotisserie style scoring is used. They also produce a list of undroppable players.
Position Eligibility
To be eligibile at a position, players must be credited with 20 starts at the position in the previous year, or 10 stats at the position in the current year.
All players meet position eligibility requirement at a fielded position to play that position. All batters are eligible at DH. As a result, players who are primarily the DH on their team will only be eligible for the DH position unless they play the field enough to become eligible at a fielded position.
Trade Protests
Protesting trades between other owners is frowned upon. The league philosophy is that owners are allowed to make their own decisions without interference from outside opinion.
On occasion, a trade is consummated that an owner may feel is imbalanced. In such a situation, the owner who disagrees with the trade is encouraged to use the bulletin board and/or league email list to voice his concern. If this occurs, the owners involved in the trade should then give a brief explanation of the logic and thought process they used when making the trade. This effort is made so that all owners can feel comfortable that the trade is being made with good intentions and that collusion is not an issue.
Due to the financial impact that trades may have, the league option to protest trades will remain on. Again, this feature should never be used until all other options have been exhausted and an owner still believes there is a clear presence of collusion or it is proven that an owner is in no way acting to benefit his franchise. If a majority of the league feels strongly enough that a trade should not be allowed, the league will intervene. This practice will apply to any off-season transactions as well.
Trade Execution and Future Considerations
For purposes of subsequent trades and future considerations, only when a trade has been processed by the fantasy league shall the players in the trade be considered property of the new teams. Furthermore, any player involved in a pending transaction is not available for trade or consideration by any team until the trade has been processed. At that point any of the incoming players are available for selection as part of an existing consideration or new trade.
Two requests for the same player must be recognized in chronological order. The exercise of a consideration or the acceptance of a trade must be broadcast via email to the league. The timestamps on those email will be the sole factor in determining which transaction precedes the other. As such, a trade announcement email for a highly sought after player should be sent by the owners of the trade once it has been agreed upon as the official trade notification email can experience delays.
In all claims using future considerations, in order to be ruled as a valid claim, the owner of the consideration shall notify the entire league via email of the execution of the consideration, as well as the details of the consideration owed so there is no confusion on considerations that still remain. Failure to do so will prohibit the consideration from being valid.
All Year
Communication Requirements
All of the guidance issued in the Communication Requirements section should be followed. Each owner in this league is here because they check email and/or IM on a daily basis. There should be no reason for an owner to continually fail to respond to emails and offers within a day.
Not only should all owner inquiries be responded to in a timely manner, but also the response should be clear and informative. In other words, do not simply decline a trade that you do not like. Give the other owner specific things about it that you do not like, regardless of how lopsided the offer may seem to you. Trading is a negotiating process that becomes impossible to manage if one owner has no idea why the other owner continually turns down offers. When reasoning is provided, the owners can work toward a successful agreement.
