Franchise Rules
Franchise Names
All franchises are named after Atlantic Coast Conference institutions. There are currently ten franchises in place: Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. If there were to be an expansion to a twelve-team league, Clemson and Wake Forest would become the final franchises.
Franchise Fees
The current franchise fee is $110, per franchise, per year. This fee covers all costs associated with maintaining the league website (hosting and domain services) as well as the prize money contribution for each franchise. This fee does NOT include the cost of registering a team with a fantasy baseball website.
We are currently hoping to use this wiki to avoid the final $10 for web hosting.
Franchise Trading
There is no trading of franchises for the duration of the Major League Baseball regular season. On the day following the last day of the season, owners may swap franchises if they so choose. Note that this means each owner inherits the name, roster, and history of their new franchise. Owners may trade franchises for any reason.
If an owner wants a specific franchise name, he may attempt to trade his entire franchise for the one he wants. If the Florida State owner has several favorite players on the Georgia Tech roster and vice versa, the owners may decide to trade franchises. In the case of a franchise being traded, the franchise retains all future obligations to other owners from past trades. So the new owner must take those obligations into account before trading for the franchise, and then must honor those commitments.
Trades do not become valid until both owners alert the league via email that an agreement has been made. The franchise changes will be immediately reflected on this wiki upon notification from both owners. The deadline to trade a franchise is February 1 of each year.
